Support for Carers
Our receptionist, Lesley Rapa, is our practice Carer's Champion. She has a wealth of knowledge about resources available to our carers, to help support them in the invaluable work that they do. Lesley will more than happy to speak/help you in any way she can.
Although carers and the organisations that support them have long been aware of the needs of carers, we know that bodies like the NHS and Local Authorities have let them down. Hence there is a new Carers Strategy that:-
- Identifies - getting carers to recognise themselves in that role and helping staff to spot carers
- Informs – giving carers information that is accurate, appropriate and up-to-date
- Involves– carers are consulted in a timely way , and their knowledge of the cared for person is treated with respect
- Supports – recognising that carers often need support long-term support
The strategy recognises the vital role carers play as our partners in care in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. More information about support for carers can be found on the Cardiff Healthboard Website:-

Please also feel free to see our Carers information Board within the surgery waiting room for more information.
